Welcome to Macajoux Pictures

About
Kishner Deprinvil
I grew up in Haiti before cellphones and social media were popular. My parents migrated to the U.S when I was about 7 years old. To communicate with them we recorded our messages on cassette tapes and took photos to send to them. That is how I was introduced to photography. My uncle who raised us had a Canon SLR he used to take our photos. I was very intrigued and captivated by that machine. He could not answer many questions about it except that he knew how to use it. I saved up to buy my films, and used the camera without permission to take pictures of my classmates. I became known among my peers for taking photos in the school. We often forget or confuse details about events in our life and I found that photography can be the catalyst of remembering. When I photograph I'm more interested in freezing emotion, capturing moments that reminisce about our best life.
